The introduction of the new minicar is positioned as part of the company’s strategy to fully re-enter the mini super-high-roof wagon market, and it has been revealed that the previous mild hybrid system will be discontinued and replaced with a non-hybrid model.
Notable powertrain changes and grade structure
The new Roox is based on the conventional 660cc BR06 in-line 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine and turbo engine, but by not using a mild hybrid motor, the vehicle weight has been reduced, which is said to have improved fuel efficiency as a gasoline engine.
The grade structure will remain the same as the current model, with the following lineup planned:
Renewal of the design
- Distinctive headlights with a combination of squares
- The wide V-motion grille gives the front mask a more striking presence
- 17 color variations with two-tone colors extending to the hood
Introducing advanced technology
- Large 12.3-inch infotainment system
- Equipped with Google Maps and Google Assistant
- Newly adopted 7-inch digital meter
- The first blind spot monitor for a minicar
Rethinking the powertrain
- Continued use of the newly developed BR06 engine
- Mild hybrid abolished
- Improved fuel efficiency through vehicle weight reduction
Aiming to expand share in the mini super height wagon market
Nissan aims to improve its competitiveness in the mini super height wagon market with the new Roox. Particularly noteworthy is the interior length, which has been extended by 115 mm from the previous model, which is said to provide the longest interior space in its class. Nissan is strategically introducing new models with the aim of increasing its presence in the Japanese market, and the new Roox is expected to occupy an important position.
