Suzuki will make some improvements to its light cross-country vehicle, the Jimny, and release it on October 15, 2025. Prices will range from 1,918,400 yen to 2,164,000 yen. At the same time , some specifications will also be changed for the Jimny Sierra . This improvement aims to further enhance its appeal by incorporating the latest safety features.
The new Jimny, which began accepting orders in early July 2025, has a major update to its safety performance as its biggest feature. While maintaining its previous serious off-road performance, it also provides an improved sense of security for everyday use.
Suzuki new Jimny partial improvement 2025 model
The latest safety equipment, “Dual Camera Brake Support,” is standard on all vehicles.
The new 2025 Jimny model will upgrade from the conventional “Dual Sensor Brake Support” to the more advanced “Dual Camera Brake Support.” This new system is the latest technology also used in the Jimny Nomad, which was released in April 2025.

4th generation new Jimny exterior
The body color lineup includes two-tone white or black. It seems possible to combine original parts. On December 22, 2017, Suzuki announced a review of its domestic production system. The Jimny will be relocated from the Iwata Plant to the Kosai Plant in the first half of 2018, and production of the new Jimny will begin.

4th generation Jimny interior
The instrument panel has been given a modern makeover, with two independent meters. The long, narrow vertical section in the middle now features a multi-information LCD panel. The car navigation system is the focus, and numerous changes have been made, including automatic air conditioning. Many changes have been made, including a large multi-information display. The seats can be arranged, and can even be made fully flat, which was not possible in the previous model. The maximum interior length is 1795mm.

4th generation Jimny
About the new 4th generation Jimny
The exterior has a more angular body design, returning to its roots rather than keeping the concept, and employs round headlights similar to the new Hustler. The body color lineup includes two-tone black. This is an off-road model, and like the previous model, it employs a ladder frame that emphasizes strength and durability, a three-link rigid suspension, and part-time 4WD with an auxiliary transmission (low range). It also employs the preventive safety equipment “Dual Sensor Brake Support,” marking the first time safety technology has been adopted for a Jimny. It is equipped with Drive Action 4×4, which allows for comfortable switching from 2WD to 4WD (4H, 4WD high speed) while driving with the touch of a switch.
Although the design is similar to the new Hustler, the Jimny has consistently used a ladder frame since the first model, and the Jimny is the only older model kei car in the world that still uses a ladder frame (excluding light trucks). The frame uses a ladder frame and a front-engine, front-wheel drive layout with a longitudinal engine. It is also often heard both overseas and in Japan as being a smaller version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
Newly developed ladder frame
It uses a ladder frame structure that symbolizes a full-fledged 4WD. The newly developed ladder frame employs an X-member and cross members at the front and rear, which has succeeded in increasing torsional rigidity by approximately 1.5 times compared to the previous model. The body mount rubber has been enlarged to reduce vibration transmitted from the frame to the vehicle body.
Part-time 4WD
Part-time 4WD with a sub-transmission (low range) has been used from the first generation to the new model, allowing you to freely switch between 2WD and 4WD depending on the road conditions.
3-link reject axle suspension
The “3-link reject axle suspension” that directly connects the left and right wheels ensures excellent maneuverability on uneven roads and large ground clearance. The minimum ground clearance of 205mm is sufficient, making it difficult for the bumper or underbody to come into contact with obstacles at the “approach angle,” “ramp breakover angle,” and “departure angle.” Door mirrors with side under mirrors, heated door mirrors.
safety equipment
Equipped with dual sensor brake support, it utilizes the strengths of a monocular camera and laser radar to avoid danger with various functions including automatic braking. The body uses a lightweight impact-absorbing TECT body. It also features a pretensioner mechanism, force limiter mechanism (seatbelt), SRS airbags, 4-wheel ABS (anti-lock brake system), and latch start system (MT vehicles only).
Fuel economy
Currently, only gasoline models are available, with JC08 mode fuel economy of 13.6 to 14.8 km/L, which is poor for a modern light vehicle, but the new model employs the R06A engine used in Wagon R and other models, which has resulted in some improvement in fuel economy, with WLTC mode fuel economy of 13.2 km/L (AT) and 16.2 km/L (MT).

Dual sensor brake support (standard equipment on Jimny XC)
Taking advantage of the strengths of the monocular camera and laser radar adopted in the new ” Swift ” and new ” Wagon R “, it not only detects pedestrians but also uses automatic braking to avoid and mitigate collisions. The new Jimny falls under the Support Car S <Wide> category.
1. Forward Collision Warning Function: When driving at speeds between approximately 5km/h and 100km/h, the stereo camera detects vehicles and pedestrians ahead. If it determines there is a possibility of a collision, it will sound an alarm and display a warning message in the meter.
2. Forward Collision Warning and Brake Function When the possibility of a collision increases, this function not only issues a warning but also automatically applies light brakes to encourage the driver to avoid the collision.
3. Forward Collision Damage Mitigation Brake Assist Function If the driver applies the brakes hard after determining that there is a high possibility of a collision, the brake assist function will be activated to increase braking force.
4. Automatic braking function If it is determined that a collision is unavoidable, the automatic braking function will apply strong brakes to avoid the collision or reduce the damage caused by the collision.
False Start Prevention Function: Helps avoid collisions caused by pedal or shift operation errors. The stereo camera detects obstacles within approximately 4m ahead. If the driver steps on the accelerator pedal heavily despite the presence of an obstacle while stopped or traveling slowly at approximately 10km/h or less, the function automatically reduces engine output to prevent sudden starts and sudden acceleration.
Lane Departure Warning Function: If the vehicle is about to deviate from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter warns the
driver. When driving at speeds between approximately 60km/h and 100km/h, the stereo camera recognizes the lane markings on both sides. If it determines that the vehicle is about to depart from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter alerts the driver.
Sway warning function: If the vehicle sway, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter will sound to warn the driver. If the stereo camera determines that the vehicle is swaying based on the swaying pattern within the lane while driving at speeds between approximately 60km/h and 100km/h, a buzzer will sound and an indicator light in the meter will light up to alert the driver.
Leading vehicle departure notification function: Notifies the driver when the leading vehicle starts moving with a buzzer sound and a display in the meter
. When the vehicle is stopped, if the leading vehicle starts moving and moves away from the vehicle more than 4m away, but the vehicle remains stopped, a buzzer sound will sound and a display in the meter will notify the driver that the leading vehicle has started moving.
Reverse Brake Support: First used in a light vehicle. Four ultrasonic sensors built into the rear bumper activate the automatic brakes when they detect an obstacle behind the vehicle.
Omnidirectional Monitor Camera Package (manufacturer option for vehicles equipped with the Safety Package and Omnidirectional Monitor Camera Package) Cameras are installed in four locations on the front, rear, left and right of the vehicle. When a compatible navigation system (dealer-installed accessory) is installed, it becomes an “Omnidirectional Monitor” that displays bird’s-eye views of the vehicle on the monitor, as if seen from directly above. Areas that are difficult to see from the driver’s seat can be checked on the screen, which is useful for parking in tight spaces.
