Volkswagen’s new Golf (Mk8.5) interior
Inside, the Golf switches from a relatively small, dashboard-mounted infotainment system to a larger, tablet-style 15.6-inch infotainment display seen in recent VW vehicles like the ID.7, revised ID.4, and new Euromarket models. Higher-quality materials and other improvements to the user interface are also included. An improved display with user-friendly heating controls brings back old-fashioned physical buttons on the steering wheel. The Mk8 Golf featured touch-sensitive steering wheel buttons, which were often accidentally operated. Below the display, there’s also a physical touch slider and voice assistant for adjusting various vehicle settings and answering weather-related questions.

The driver assistance system, Travel Assist, has also been enhanced, now offering lane change assistance on multi-lane highways at speeds above 90 km/h. It ‘s a semi-autonomous driving system that combines lane centering and adaptive cruise control . However, that’s a bit of a sell, as the system uses cameras and navigation data to detect speed limits and adjusts accordingly. The system also offers lane change assistance.

Like the previous model, it uses the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, a 10.25-inch display that replaces the analog meter. The car is equipped with a Level 3 driver assistance system, which provides fully automated driving when traveling on highways at speeds of up to 60 km/h. The system is comprised of 12 ultrasonic sensors, a laser scanner, and a video camera.
