Japan Automobile Sales Rankings December 2023: Toyota Yaris takes first place in passenger car category, Honda N-BOX takes first place in minicar category

On December 6, 2023 , the Japan Automobile Dealers Association (JADA) and the All Japan Light Motor Vehicle Association (AJMCA) announced the preliminary figures for passenger car sales by model name and new light four-wheel vehicle sales by common name for November 2023. The top-ranked light vehicle was the N-BOX, with 21,097 units sold.

Passenger car ranking

Among passenger cars, Toyota’s Yaris took the top spot with 14,255 units sold. In second place was the Toyota Corolla with 11,411 units, and in third place was the Toyota Sienta with 9,390 units. The top three cars all sold over 10,000 units. In terms of manufacturers, Toyota had six cars in the top 10, showing its overwhelming sales volume. It is interesting to note that these two cars were not made by other manufacturers, Nissan and Honda.

Light car ranking

In the minicar category, the Honda N-BOX took the top spot with 19,681 units sold. In second place was the Daihatsu Tanto with 11,792 units sold, and in third place was the Suzuki Spacia with 11,089 units sold. Both are regular contenders in the minicar rankings.
