Toyota’s new Yaris gets partial improvements and an updated infotainment system
It comes equipped with a new infotainment system. It supports the “Connected Navigation” system found in the new Noah and Voxy models, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A USB-C charging port has also been added. While the UI is designed with smartphones in mind, it’s not exactly user-friendly. The final navigation prompts aren’t great, either. We hope to see improvements in a future version upgrade.

Toyota’s new “Yaris” partially improved with “Toyota Safety Sense” proactive driving assist
By anticipating risks according to the driving situation, such as “pedestrians crossing the road” or “people who may suddenly appear in front of you,” the system supports driving operations to prevent drivers from getting too close to danger, leading to peace of mind for the driver. In addition, by supporting deceleration operations for preceding vehicles and curves ahead and reducing the need to frequently change pedals, the system provides gentle support to the driver on public roads and other roads.
Steering and deceleration assistance for pedestrians, cyclists, and parked vehicles
It anticipates risks and supports steering and braking to prevent the driver from getting too close to danger.
Assistance for slowing down the vehicle ahead
When a preceding or adjacent vehicle is detected cutting in, the system gently decelerates in response to the driver’s release of the accelerator to prevent the vehicle from getting too close.
Curve deceleration assistance
If the system determines that the vehicle’s speed is too fast for the curve ahead, it will gradually slow down in response to the driver’s release from the accelerator.
Deceleration assistance when turning right or left
When the system detects that the vehicle is approaching a traffic light intersection, it assists the driver in decelerating in advance according to whether the driver releases the accelerator or operates the turn signal, ensuring sufficient maneuverability when turning left or right.
Constant steering assistance while driving within the lane

Thoughts on the partial improvements to the new Toyota Yaris
One disappointing aspect of the recent Yaris upgrades for the Japanese model is that they differ from those for the European model. The European model features an updated hybrid system, a larger electric motor, and a new transaxle with improved software. System output has increased from 116 PS (85 kW) to 130 PS (96 kW), and the new motor’s torque has increased by 30% from 141 Nm (104 lb-ft) to 185 Nm (136 lb-ft). The interior of the European model features a 12.3-inch TFT display with a full LCD digital meter. The 7-inch Display Audio has been discontinued, replaced by an 8-inch Display Audio and a 10.5-inch Display Audio Plus . These differences are significant. However, it is expected that the Japanese model will also be updated to the above specifications with future upgrades.
