Toyota Motor Corporation announced on January 31, 2024, that it had filed a recall (recall and free repairs) with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for a total of 793,290 vehicles of three models: Yaris, Aqua, and Sienta, manufactured between December 2019 and January 2024 (December 2019 and January 2024).
Recall Overview
The ball joint mounting part of the front wheel lower arm has not been sufficiently examined for durability in the operating environment, and frequent exposure to de-icing agents in snowy areas can cause corrosion and cracks. Therefore, if the vehicle continues to be used as is, the cracks may progress, and in the worst case scenario, the lower arm may break, causing the ball joint to fall off and making the vehicle unable to drive. A recall (recovery and free repair) will replace both left and right lower arms on all vehicles with countermeasures.
