About the new Porsche Taycan

This is Porsche’s first sports-type EV (electric vehicle). Porsche announced the improved model of the new EV (electric vehicle) “Taycan” on February 7, 2024. Reservations for the Japanese model also began on the same day at Porsche Japan.

About the new Porsche EV “Taycan” 2025 model

The Taycan has been in production since 2019, but it’s been on the market for quite some time without a major update. Now, for the 2025 model year, it’s finally getting a major facelift, offering more power, more technology, better electrical hardware, and better performance. Performance has always been a priority, and every model in the Taycan lineup accelerates faster than its successor. The base rear-wheel-drive model sees the biggest performance improvement, reaching 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds—0.6 seconds faster than the previous version. The top-of-the-line Taycan Turbo S sees its 0-100 km/h time drop by 0.4 seconds, to 2.4 seconds.

The new “Push to Pass” function in the Sport Chrono Package allows the driver to access a boost of up to 70 kW for 10 seconds, depending on the model, at the touch of a button. The increased acceleration is primarily due to increased system output. For example, the base Taycan now boasts 60 kW more power than before, while the Taycan Turbo S now boasts an additional 140 kW of launch control. This increases the system output of the top model to 700 kW/952 PS.

Depending on body type and engine, the range has increased by 175 km (35%) to up to 678 km (WLTP). The upgraded Taycan not only requires fewer charges over long distances than its predecessor, but also charges faster. The total capacity of the Performance Battery Plus has increased from 93 kWh to 105 kWh.

While it has been made up to 15 kg lighter, the standard equipment is even more extensive than before. Ambient lighting, heated front seats, Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM), a wireless charging smartphone tray, electric charging ports on the driver’s and passenger’s sides, a drive mode switch, and Power Steering Plus are standard equipment. In Japan, the Taycan 4S comes standard with the Performance Battery Plus.
