Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. and Toyota Motor Corporation held a joint press conference on February 13, 2024. In response to the fraud issue, they announced measures to prevent recurrence and changes to their management structure. They also announced a new organizational structure in which Masahiro Inoue will become Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd.’s new president.

Measures to prevent recurrence

  • We will work with Toyota to prevent recurrence based on three pledges (cultural reform, management reform, and Monozukuri/Kotozukuri reform)
  • The company will be centered on its origins, “light vehicles,” and will aim to manufacture high-quality, affordable cars.
  • Regarding overseas business, planning, development, and production will be outsourced to Toyota.
  • In order to prevent recurrence and build a foundation for the future, we will change our management structure as of March 1, 2023.

Change in management structure

  • Chairman Matsubayashi and President Okudaira will retire on March 1, 2024.
  • Masahiro Inoue was appointed president, and Vice Presidents Hoshika and Masanori Kuwata were appointed vice presidents.
  • Keiko Yanagi becomes a director

Redefining business areas

  • Masahiro Inoue will be appointed president and will drive reforms as the person responsible for on-site management.
  • Masanori Kuwata will be appointed Vice President and will drive corporate culture and organizational reform.
  • As General Manager of the Quality Management Division, Vice President Hoshika will be responsible for establishing a system for regulatory and certification-related operations.
  • Keiko Yanagi will serve as a director and support the execution of certification operations.

Future Initiatives

  • Under the new management structure led by President-elect Inoue, Daihatsu and Toyota will work together to transform the company into one that customers can support.
