BYD, a major Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, launched the new hyper EV “U9” from its luxury EV brand “Yangwang” in the Chinese market on February 25, 2024. The local base price is 1.68 million yuan (approximately 35.4 million yen).

The U9 also features BYD’s latest proprietary “blade battery,” enabling a range of up to 700 km on a single charge. Furthermore, the newly developed four-wheel independent torque control system, known as “iTAC,” ensures stable driving even on rough roads. The U9 will be sold exclusively in the Chinese market, but BYD is considering selling it in overseas markets in the future.
