Toyota will be making minor changes to the new GR Yaris, an improved and evolved model to be announced on March 21, 2024, and released on April 8, 2024. While I had assumed the standard model would be available in two grades, “RZ” and “RZ “High performance,” with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic, a closer look at the catalog revealed that there was actually an “RC” grade! Moreover, it prominently states that it is a ” motorsports competition vehicle ” designed for motorsports participation , and the catalog gives the impression that it’s not for sale to the average person! Let’s take a look at what grades it is.
About the evolved “GR Yaris” grade “RC”
The evolved GR Yaris RC is a grade designed for motorsports competition. It requires customization in accordance with the vehicle regulations of the competition in which it will be entered. In addition, some features available on other grades are not included.

Evolved “GR Yaris” grade: Equipment not available in “RC”
Instead of triple-bulb full LED headlights, LED turn signals, and LED clearance lights, the car has projector-type halogen lamps, turn signals, and clearance lights. Furthermore, the interior lacks vibration-damping, sound-insulating, and sound-deadening materials, is not equipped with display audio or navigation functions, and is basically devoid of safety equipment. An optional preventive safety package with Toyota Safety Sense is available for 69,300 yen. Blind spot monitors and safe exit assist are not available, nor is the smart entry and start system, and the only body color available is Super White II (040). On the other hand, the “vertical parking brake,” which became a hot topic on social media when the car was released, is available as an option for 132,000 yen and is only available on the “RC” grade. This cannot be changed on other grades.

As this is a grade designed for motorsports participation, it has been stripped of any intrusive features. Nowadays, it is difficult to find a product without safety features, but this car specifically caters to that need. That’s what you’d expect from MORIZO.
