Nissan Sakura becomes No. 1 in domestic electric vehicle sales in 2023

The Nissan Sakura is expected to account for approximately 41% of domestic EV sales in fiscal year 2023. It is driving the spread of EVs in the Japanese market, leading to its No. 1 sales ranking. It is also increasingly being adopted by corporations and local governments for the purposes of reducing environmental impact and BCP measures, and is being used in a variety of places, including as a sales vehicle, for product delivery, and even as a towing vehicle for transporting luggage within airports.

The Nissan Sakura is equipped with the same cutting-edge lithium-ion battery as the Nissan Leaf. The universal stack structure, which improves installation efficiency, ensures a spacious interior, while providing a maximum driving range of 180km (WLTC mode), which is sufficient for everyday life for approximately 80% of light and compact car owners, who drive less than 50km per day (according to Nissan research), and achieving high reliability. The electricity stored in the EV battery can also be used as household electricity by supplying it to the home via a V2L device.

This is the first time that a minicar is equipped with advanced features. In addition to adopting “ProPilot,” a driving assistance technology for single lanes on expressways , the car is also the first to be equipped with “ProPilot Parking,” which automatically controls the steering, accelerator, brakes, gear changes, and parking brake when parking. From city streets to expressways and even parking lots, the advanced technology supports driving.

The exterior design, featuring a front face and luminous emblem that evokes the next generation of Nissan , exudes a calm, mature atmosphere. The advanced, elegant, slim headlights, which are the first in a minicar to feature projector-type triple headlights , assist in safe driving even on nighttime roads. The back door is also equipped with wide LED rear combination lamps inspired by lattice patterns. The wheels feature aluminum wheels with a design inspired by mizuhiki, a traditional Japanese aesthetic.

The interior features two displays laid out horizontally: a 7-inch Advanced Drive Assist Display meter and a large 9-inch navigation screen . The display is shaped to match the driver’s line of sight, making it easy to use and see. The NissanConnect navigation system features route planning that takes charging into consideration, an SOS call function for emergencies, and Apple CarPlay wireless connectivity .
